FACULTY AND STAFF

Dr. Casey Schmidt has been the Headmaster at Baldwin Christian School since July 2026. He has a PhD in Philosophy of Religion, MA in Philosophy, and BA in Religious Studies from Southern Evangelical Seminary, However, he is most proud of being husband to his wife Calley and father to his son Deverell.

Before coming to BCS, Dr. Schmidt worked across the educational field. He previously taught philosophy and humanities classes at the collegiate level, as well as Latin at several classical schools. Dr. Schmidt is motivated by a passion for the Church and for fostering both Christian worldview and a love for education among young learners.

He enjoys reading, taking in the local culture, and all things Age of Empires.

Dr. Schmidt currently attends Faith Community Church in New Richmond.

Sarah has been married to her husband for 18 years, and has three children. Her family has been a part of BCS for over 12 years; with her children  being enrolled since kindergarten. 

Before becoming the school secretary, Sarah worked in cosmetology for 12 years before being a stay at home mom for seven years where she spent many hours volunteering at BCS.

“Being part of the Baldwin Christian School family brings me so much joy.  I love my job as secretary, which includes spending time with every class, playing with young students, and being a “school mom” figure. Instilling Biblical truth and sharing the gospel with children to help set them up for life makes me so happy.”

“Baldwin Christian School is a family, and I am honored to serve our families, staff, and students.  Coming alongside parents and teachers to rear their children in the gospel and the  love of Jesus is my passion and a true joy!”

In her freetime, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and many activities including: leading worship at church, gardening, and keeping their hobby farm animals happy and healthy.

Sarah’s family has attended Bible Center Church for 25 years.

Kelli has been married to her husband since 1998. They have four children.

She has blessed BCS as our preschool teacher since 2009.

“I choose to teach at BCS because it is a small intimate place where we are all family. A safe place we all can continue to grow in our faith freely and together.”

Kelli enjoys spending time with her family, watching her girls compete in dance and her boys in sports. She runs a greenhouse in the spring and take care of cattle that her and her family show across all the Midwest.

Hello, my name is Margaret Heebink. I have been a teaching assistant at BCS for the past 3 years before now serving as the kindergarten teacher. I have worked in Grades ( K- 4th) and learned a lot along the way. My favorite subjects are Math and Phonics. I graduated with an Accounting Degree from Mankato State University, and worked as a Financial Analyst for a number of years. I live in Baldwin, WI with my husband of 10 years. We have a son who attends BCS.

My family and I enjoy a lot of activities such as traveling, game nights, fishing and hiking. In my spare time I crochet and do gardening. 

My family attends the OPC church in Hammond, WI.

Being brought up in a Christian home, the bible was the center and the way to live. I was taught God will provide everything you need if you believe and trust in him. With humbleness in my heart I accept whatever path God chooses for me. I am happy I was led into teaching at BCS. I feel blessed to be working in an institution that not only develops a person physically and academically but also spiritually.

Debbie has been married to her husband since 1993. She has three children and four grandchildren. She has her degree in Communications and Business Management from Alverno College.

Debbie taught for over 25 years in both private and public schools as well as private tutoring. She has taught at almost all grade levels with a focus in special needs and intervention. Her favorite subjects are reading and math.

“It is my great honor and priviledge to serve along side dedicated and talented Christian educators as we provide a classical Christian educational foundation for our students. Watching these young people grow and develop not only academically but in their love of our Lord, is a joy. BCS is a place where I can help students develop their gifts and become strong Biblical citizens.”

Debbie is a trained chef from Escoffier Culinary Institute. She loves to cook and has owned a catering business for over 20 years. She’s an avid gardener and reader.

Jodi lives in the country with her family. She enjoys the beautiful scenic example of God’s amazing creation. Her family has lived south of Baldwin for over 100 years.

Jodi has received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Ed and Science Education from UW-River Falls.

She home schooled her own children. Jodi taught for five years at a private school and seven years at home school co-ops. She has been at BCS since 2018.

I am so excited to be joining the staff at Baldwin Christian school. I have always loved working with children, and I’m excited for the opportunity to help create a fun, caring, and Christ-centered environment where students feel loved, supported, and encouraged.

My faith is a very important part of my life. My husband, Curtis, and I pastor Fountain of Life Apostolic church and we love serving our church and our community. My prayer this year is that everyone I encounter will see Him through me.

I have several years of experience in caregiving and hospice, along with experience teaching children with special needs. These experiences have taught me the importance of patience, compassion, meeting people where they are, and celebrating the little victories.

Outside of school and church, I love spending time with my husband, our two boys and our foreign exchange students. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, spending time with family, going to fun places with my kids, hiking and hosting events at our house.

I’m so thankful for the door God has opened to be part of the Baldwin Christian school family. I’m looking forward to getting to know each of the students, supporting their teachers, and watching them learn and grow throughout the year. I feel truly blessed to be here and can’t wait to see what God has in store for this new season!

Before teaching at Baldwin Christian School, Kathryn spent seven years teaching Preschool where she had the opportunity to help develop and implement Christian education curriculum at each center where she worked. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently working toward her Provisional Certification through BCS.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach at BCS and pour into these students, not only helping them grow in knowledge, but also nurturing their hearts and souls as they learn more about Christ and what it means to live out the truths of the Gospel.”

In her free time, Kathryn enjoys painting and all things crafty, spending time with friends and family, collecting and caring for houseplants, and traveling, especially to Tennessee to visit her nephew.

Kathryn is a member of Faith Community Church in New Richmond, where she serves in Children’s Ministry and Young Adult Ministry.

Maribel has been teaching at the Baldwin Christian School since 2000. All five of her children have graduated from BCS, and presently one of her 15 grandchildren are enrolled at the Baldwin Christian School.

In 2005, she and her husband Charlie started a classical Christian high school called Dokime. It was so successful that in 2008, the K-8 school merged with the high school to become the Baldwin Christian School, a Classical Academy. Aside from hanging out with her grandchildren, Maribel likes to read, garden and hike. "It has been my honor to serve the families of the Baldwin Christian School these many years." Maribel Hokanson

Charlie has been married to Maribel Hokanson since 1987. They have five children and seven grandchildren so far. Charlie got his Bible Certificate from Northwestern College in Roseville, MN, his Bachelors of Arts in Ministry, and Bachelors of Arts in English Lit. He has studied and taught Koine Greek for over 30 years.

He has over 35 years in campus ministry. He has been teaching at BCS since 2005, and worked as a part-time pastor and pulpit supply for over 20 years.

“I choose to teach at BCS because I want to invest in young people: to train and educate them in God’s truth from the Word of God. I want to help raise up future generations who will greatly impact the world for Christ!”

Charlie enjoys motorcycling with his wife and family as well as bible study, skating, downhill skiing and sailing.

He attends Covenant Presbyterian Church

Hannah has been married to her husband Brian since 2008. They have two children, both of whom attend school at BCS. Hannah has worked as a substitute teacher and paraprofessional, and tutored with Classical Conversations. She also taught children's Sunday School for over eight years, which included developing a Bible curriculum for her church.

Hannah graduated from UW-La Crosse with a dual degree in Broadfield Science and Education and a Biology minor.

She is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

In her free time, Hannah enjoys taking Creative Writing courses, writing essays, stories, and poems, composing music, reading old books, and taking walks with her dog in the woods. She loves the community at BCS and using the art of narration her classes.
