Happy Novus (New) Year!

Students did an excellent job on their Rapunzel rewrite.  It was difficult deciding which three to convert to plays and after seeking help I have narrowed it down to Isabelle's "Lillian", Anne's "Hydranga", and Hope's "Burr".  Students are currently working on converting the stories to script form, including sound effects and artistic plans for the backdrops.

Latin A discipuli (students) have a fun chapter this week.  You can ask them to sing the "Pattern A" and "Pattern B" chants for you, describing two different types of sentence structures.  Horse lovers can ask your child what the Latin word is for horse and if your child is full of energy you can surprise them by calling them a "ferus" (wild animal).

Latin B discipuli (students) can recite the "I-Stem" chant for you.  These are the 3rd declension noun endings.  Try and learn it with them and before you know it, you will wake up with it stuck in your head!  With a vocabulary list with words like familia, templum, navis, and urbs, it is easy to think of some English derivatives (English words that derive from Latin words).  Ask your child to point out others from their list and they will be motivated to study!

Your child's magistra (teacher),

Mrs. Wieser
