Home Bulletin

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower”

September 10, 2007

School times – Students are not allowed in the building before 7:55am.  The bus schedule has changed.   The bell will still ring at 8:10am in the morning and we ask that all students be ready to line up for the pledge at this time.  Also, in the afternoon the bus will be leaving at 3:05pm.  Parents may pick up their children at 3:10pm.  If you arrive before this time, please park across the road in the CRC parking lot.  Do not park between the fence and the building, because it can be a problem when the bus arrives.  Preschool children will be dismissed at 3:00pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays.  Remember to always look for them before driving in the school lot.

Reminder: This will be the only paper copy of the Home Bulletin to be sent home with your children unless you request it from Penny Engel (684-5976).  Please have any information or announcements in by the end of Friday.

Congratulations to the Pluth family on the birth of their new daughter and sister.  Mary Kathleen was born on August 16.  God’s blessing to you and your new little one.

Please remember to have two pairs of shoes to help protect our carpets, to bring in a large box of Kleenex, and return the permission slip and Emergency Information form.  Remember to return reduced hot lunch applications and the price for milk is now 35 cents per carton.

Dokime (the Christian High School) will be having a garage sale on Friday September 14.  They would appreciate any donation of items.  Items can be dropped off at 840 Elm St. in Baldwin, WI on Thursday the 13th @ 700pm.  For more information call Dana S. at 698-2684.

Upcoming Events: The first Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) has been set for Friday October 12.  Please note this on your calendar.  More information will follow.

Ebenezer News: Ebenezer is a group for parents, grandparents, or friends of BCS that support the school, teachers, & students.  They are involved in fundraising activities, they provide room mothers/fathers, provide school meals for special occasions, pay for student field trips, and assist in other things.  Ebenezer met last Friday for devotions, prayer, & planning.  This year they will focus on raising money for new playground equipment.  The playground fund is already over $3,000.  If you have any ideas for fundraising or would like to contribute to this contact Erica Wahlquist (684-5863).  Ebenezer also discussed the Fall Craft Sale.  This will be held November 17 at the American Legion in Baldwin.  Please save this date.

A special thanks you to Diane VanSomeren for her dedication to the school and Ebenezer over the last 14 years.  She served as the Treasurer for Ebenezer along with putting together the Home Bulletin, taking care of the school library, and other supportive activities.  Thank You, Diane!

Ebenezer is also in need of more recipes for their cookbook.  Please submit recipes to the office or send them to the school with your child.  They can also be sent email to Erica W. at jecwahl@scenet.net.  The more recipes, the better.  Please submit them as soon as possible.  Thank You!

Band Students: The Baldwin-Woodville School District opens band up for students in the 4th- 8th grades at BCS.  There are currently four 7th & 8th grade students involved.  The students rideshare Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays to Viking Middle School in Woodville for a 30-minute class.   For more information, call Mr. Becker (VMS) at 698-2456 ext. 110 or Mike/Karen Hollabaugh (796-2659) or Michelle Robole (698-3017) or Jane Raihala (796-2178).

Box Tops for Education: Watch the Sunday fliers and grocery store ads this fall for many bonus opportunities, including bonus tops on products, bonuses from stores, and bonuses offered from the Market Place web site.   We’re starting the year with over 1400 bonus tops.

Recipes for School Cook Book: Send to the school office or email to Erica at jecwahl@scenet.net.

Seamstresses: contact Dana Swanson at 698-2684

Noon recess volunteers: If you would like to spend an occasional lunchtime with your child, consider volunteering for lunch duty.  The time is 11:35am to 12:40pm and includes monitoring the lunchroom and watching over the students during recess after lunch.  This gives our teachers a nice break; it helps you get to know the other children in school, and is an encouragement to both the teachers and the children.  Any questions or if you would like to volunteer, call Mike or Karen Hollabaugh at 796-2659 or email at rntrucker@yahooo.com  (note this is a new address).
