“The name of the Lord is a strong tower”

March 3, 2008

Reminder: School starts at 8:10am.

IMPORTANT: Please read the school news carefully, it gets updated with important information weekly.

There will be a Kindergarten information meeting at the school, March 10, beginning at 7:00pm, for parents who are interested in sending their children in the 2008-2009 school year.  In the past current kindergarten students have put on a short performance.  This year, because there are no current kindergartners, we are asking the 1st grade students to perform.  They have already started practicing and the 2nd grade students are welcome to join them but it is not mandatory.  Please keep Monday evening, March 10, open on your calendar so you can attend this event.  Thank you

The Spring Auction will be on March 7.  It will be held at the Christian Reformed Church and begin at 7:00pm.  Ebenezer sponsors this auction and encourages all families, friends, extended families, and supporters of the school to be involved.  Area businesses have been very generous in the past when donating their services and merchandise, but donations from families are greatly needed.  Ideas for donations are limitless and include: catered meals, cleaning services, babysitting, quilts & blankets, needlepoint, embroidered items, toys, woodwork crafts & furniture, pictures, pies, canned goods, baked goods, tool sets, baskets of assorted items, trees, plants, and more.  Someone will be calling to see if you will be able to bring food, help with set up or cleanup, or help in some other way.  Please leave this night available in your schedule and plan on attending for an evening of fun, food, fellowship, and fundraising.

Auction Luncheon Items: Items for the luncheon may be brought to the Ebenezer meeting on Friday, March 7 at 8:15am.  Nonperishable items may be left in the preschool room earlier in the week.  Otherwise, bring items to the Christian Reformed Church kitchen by 6:45pm the day of.  Ebenezer collects a free-will donation for the luncheon, which benefits various BCS projects.  Thank you

Auction Donation Items: Items can be brought to the school on the 7th, they can also be brought to the Ebenezer meeting (CRC @ 8:15am), or they can be brought to the church that evening before the auction, if possible by 6:30pm.

Students will be singing at the auction.  Please have the students wear white shirts and black pants and girls can wear black skirts.  They need to be at the church by 6:50pm.

Ebenezer is planning a garage sale in the spring.  As you begin cleaning out closets, items that are still in good condition may become someone else’s treasure at the Ebenezer garage sale.  Items can be brought to the school or taken to the home of Erica Wahlquist.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

***Ebenezer is looking for someone to organize the Fall Craft Sale.  Karen Wevers has been organizing this event for many years.  If anyone is interested in this position, please contact Karen Wevers.  Karen will be available for consultation and help (attendance at the Ebenezer meetings is not mandatory).

Coffee Break: This is a community 6-week bible study for women.  It started on February 28 and meets at 9:30am.  If anyone would like to join in, please contact Kara 684-4404 or Sylvia 684-2195.

Dokime Christian Academy Fundraiser: The students are baking and selling delicious apricot and cardamom braids.  Orders can be placed with Maribel Hokanson or Jane Raihala by March 16.  The braids will be ready for delivery the following week, just in time for your Easter celebration.  A cardamom braid is $8 and an apricot braid is $10.  Thank you for your support.

Noon recess volunteers:  The time is 11:35am to 12:40pm and includes monitoring the lunchroom and watching over the students during recess after lunch. School News:

*Parents please do not allow your children to play with anything other than the toys in the preschool room.  If you are here for a meeting and are allowing the children to stay in the preschool room, make sure they do not touch the craft supplies or the teacher’s desk.  The children can play with the toys if they are all put away before they leave.  This is a functioning classroom and needs to be respected and left neat & tidy for the teacher and her students.  Thank You

*There will be an all school play on April 18 for the 1s –8th grade students.  The students received their parts on January 9.  Please help your child learn their lines.  All lines must be memorized by Wednesday, February 27.

*The 3rd-5th grades classroom needs more Kleenex.  Please send in another box with the students.  These students also need pencils.  Parents your child is using 1 or 2 pencils per week.  Please refresh these supplies as soon as possible. Thank you

*There will be a field trip to a play and a visit to the planetarium in Eau Claire on April 10.  If you would be willing and available to drive, please let one of the teachers know.

*Preschool news: the preschool students will not be participating in the play on April 18, but we all hope you bring your families to the performance.
