Home Bulletin
February 11, 2008
Reminder: School starts at 8:10am.
IMPORTANT
NOTICE: Graduation
for the eighth graders has been moved to May 22. Please note this on your calendars.
There will be a Kindergarten
information meeting at the school, March 10, beginning at
7:00pm, for parents who are interested in sending their children in the
2008-2009 school year.
The Spring Auction will
be on March 7.
It will be held at the Christian Reformed Church and begin at
7:00pm. Ebenezer sponsors this auction
and encourages all families, friends, extended families, and supporters of the
school to be involved. Area businesses
have been very generous in the past when donating their services and
merchandise, but donations from families are greatly needed. Ideas for donations are limitless and
include: catered meals, cleaning services, babysitting, quilts & blankets,
needlepoint, embroidered items, toys, woodwork crafts & furniture,
pictures, pies, canned goods, baked goods, tool sets, baskets of assorted
items, trees, plants, and more. Someone
will be calling to see if you will be able to bring food, help with set up or
cleanup, or help in some other way. Please
leave this night available in your schedule and plan on attending for an
evening of fun, food, fellowship, and fundraising.
Ebenezer is planning a garage sale in
the spring. As you begin cleaning out closets, items that are still in good
condition may become someone else’s treasure at the Ebenezer garage sale. Items can be brought to the school or taken
to the home of Erica Wahlquist. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you to
everyone who helped with the scrap-booking event by giving of their time and
talents. The lunch was a success. Many notes of praise were received from those
in attendance. The event raised $600 for
the playground fund.
The Ebenezer Society (the
parent support group for the school) met on Friday, February 1. The minutes are as follows:
After
prayer, the minutes of the last meeting were reviewed, the treasurer’s report
was presented, and then the old and new business was discussed. There is a playground account balance of over
$13,000 due to a very generous donation of $10,000 from an anonymous
giver. Options of changes to the
playground will be discussed at the next meeting.
Last minute
details were reviewed for the scrap-booking event planned for Saturday,
February 2, and tables were set up after the meeting.
The teacher
requests were discussed and approved for purchase through Ebenezer funds. These requests included an overhead projector
for the 1st & 2nd grades classroom and Bible maps for
the 3rd – 5th grades classroom.
The Craft
Sale from last November was reviewed.
Karen Wevers has been organizing this event for many years. However, a replacement will be needed for
her. If anyone is interested in this
position, please contact Karen Wevers.
Karen will be available for consultation and help (attendance at the
Ebenezer meetings is not mandatory).
Plans were
started for the Spring Auction (please see the notice in the beginning of the
Home Bulletin). Watch for further
information.
